Airman Second Class James G. Phillips was born 2 July 1944, in Chickamauga, Georgia. He died in the line of duty on Wednesday, 8 April 1964.


Airman Phillips entered the United States Air Force on 17 April 1962, and attended school at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.


He was assigned to duty at Sewart Air Force Base on 11 March 1963, with Detachment 2, 651st Communications Squadron.


He was assigned to the 314th Troop Carrier Wing Combat Control Team on 15 April 1963.
